Even in the highly educated field of healthcare, many practitioners and non-clinical staff have not received training specific to autism, often leading to individuals on the autism spectrum not having their needs properly understood or addressed which can adversely affect both their healthcare experiences and the effectiveness of treatments they receive.
The IBCCES Certified Autism Center (CAC) certification recognizes organizations that have a highly trained staff and are fully equipped to serve the fastest growing population of developmental disorders.
All Certified Autism Centers™ meet the following requirements:
- Dedicated to serving individuals with autism
- At least 80% of patient-facing trained and certified in the field of autism
- Committed to ongoing specialized training in autism
An onsite review by IBCCES experts includes a comprehensive report with suggested changes or modifications to better serve individuals on the spectrum, as well as sensory guides for activities.
