Terms and Conditions
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE INITIATING YOUR APPLICATION. All users of the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) products and/or services agree that access to and use of this site are subject to the following terms and conditions.
The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards has developed the Terms and Conditions to ensure the highest level of professional responsibility and care for all students and/or clients. It is expected that all IBCCES Certificants (hereafter, “Members”) will represent themselves appropriately and abide by the IBCCES Terms and Conditions. Violation of the Terms and Conditions may result in revocation of your credentials.
Financial
These terms and conditions are applicable to you upon you accessing the site and/or initiating the registration process.
You agree that you will pay for all products and services you purchase from IBCCES, and that IBCCES may charge your payment method for any products purchased and for any additional amounts (including any late fees, as applicable) that may be accrued by your Account. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TIMELY PAYMENT OF ALL FEES AND FOR PROVIDING IBCCES WITH A VALID PAYMENT METHOD FOR PAYMENT OF ALL FEES.
Payment or a purchase order number is required to be implemented in our program. This ensures you have a seat reservation for the certification and exam.
If an applicant chooses to withdraw/cancel within 10 days of IBCCES receiving payment, then the applicant may be entitled to a partial refund minus 15%.
Registration fee will be refunded if the applicant is not approved by the board for any reason during the application process (minus 15% to cover processing and exam fees). Otherwise all sales are final.
Professional Responsibility
Members understand that the credential does not in any way provide permission to practice outside the scope of any obtained professional license. IBCCES assumes no liability for the irresponsible practice or behavior of any Member. Members are expected to seek continuing education that will enhance the service and education of their clients. As a Member, you maintain your certification by staying current with continuing education requirements of 4 contact hours of approved training every 2 years. CEU’s must meet the strict guidelines and approval of IBCCES.
Members only use appropriate therapy or educational techniques that are based on reliable and creditable research. Members will only use the provided credentials when they remain current and in good standing. Members will recognize if personal or health issues are having an adverse effect on the care of individuals and seek appropriate treatment as needed.
Members will maintain current and accurate records. Records will adhere to confidentiality rules and regulations. As a Member, you agree to take full responsibility for all your actions and decisions and in no way hold IBCCES or any of its affiliates responsible for the outcomes thereof. Members will maintain current records with IBCCES, notifying, in writing, of any changes to their status, name, or contact information within 15 days.
Professional Competence and Integrity
Members will accept personal and professional responsibility for all actions. Members recognizes the extent of their professional competence and training. Members will not engage in any activity outside of the scope of limitations set forth by their professional license. Members will recognize and acknowledge their limitations and not engage in a treatment, therapy, or activity outside of their professional training or comfort. As a Member, you acknowledge that IBCCES is not liable for your actions or results of your actions at any level and you accept full responsibility for acquiring and maintaining the necessary training to successfully complete your job. Members will not make guarantees on any specific treatment or approach, but may provide reasonably expected outcomes. Members will actively engage in increasing their level of knowledge and training in applicable treatment, care, and applicable strategies at a minimum of a biennial period.
Members will represent themselves in an honest and straightforward manner with clients, guardians, supervisors, colleagues, and IBCCES personnel. Fraudulent, deceit, misrepresentation, and illegal behavior are not tolerated by IBCCES and may constitute grounds for revocation of certification. Any behavior or actions of yourself or of another Member that would go against the IBCCES Terms and Condition should be immediately reported to us. Members adhere to all local, regional, national, and professional laws and regulations which apply to their profession. Members will disclose any actions or behavior that may be construed as a conflict of interest.
Possessing an IBCCES Credential does not insinuate in any way that you are an employee of IBCCES or have special clearance or authority beyond what is granted to you by your license, employer, or the institution in which you are working. Members may use the appropriate designation following their name only when the credentials are valid and up to date. Members may use the digital badge on digital and printed media when the certification remains valid and up to date.
Client Rights and Autonomy
The individual student or client’s rights and dignity come first. Members will encourage an appropriate level of independence for the students and/or clients. Members will provide the most appropriate treatment or care for the individual. Members will apply the principles of Primum non nocere, which means, “First, do no harm.” Crisis Intervention Specialists will not provide any type of therapy, treatment, or strategy outside the scope of their training and licensure.
Members will maintain the confidentiality and privacy of the individual entrusted to their care, as further defined by legal and professional standards. Members will respect the autonomy of the individual in allowing an appropriate level of self-determination. Individual clients and/or students shall have the right to participate in decisions regarding their treatment and care. Any treatment or therapy will be based on best practice for the individual’s needs. Members will not engage in any type of harassment or abuse of an individual. Any observed or suspicion of harassment or abuse will be reported to appropriate authorities.
Community and Global Responsibility
Members strive to educate others in their community regarding the most appropriate strategies for special needs. Members share best practices with other professionals in order to increase the standard of care for all. Members does not permit the mistreatment of any individual student and/or client. Any observed mistreatment is reported to appropriate supervisors and/or authorities. Members will advocate for the inclusion of individuals with special needs in the community. Inclusion in an educational or treatment setting will be considered in the least restrictive setting possible for the individual’s needs. Members stay current in their training and knowledge, to provide the best possible care and treatment. Members will notify IBCCES if they observe any violation of the Terms and Condition.
Certification Renewal, Expiration, or Revocation
As a Member, you acknowledge that your professional credential is valid for a period of 2 (two) year from the date of purchase. On your renewal date your certification will need to be renewed with your preferred form of payment.
Upon expiration or revocation of a credential, the usage of any IBCCES credential or digital badge will be immediately terminated.
Revocation of an IBCCES credential will be made by a final decision from the IBCCES Standards and Ethics committee. There will be no refund provided in whole or part when a revocation is made by the Standards and Ethics committee.
Privacy and Account Security
As a registered Member, you will be asked to establish an account (“Account”). Don’t reveal your Account information to anyone else. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your Account and for all activities that occur on or through your Account, and you agree to immediately notify our support staff of any security breach of your Account. We shall not be responsible for any losses arising out of the unauthorized use of your Account.
Public Registry – certificate status, name, city, certification number, district/organization and valid thru date is available on the public registry. All other information is private and secure.
Information on the application cannot be altered once the information has been submitted. Only our support staff can update your personal information thereafter by email request.
We may share some of your personally identifiable information with our parent company, our subsidiaries and partners. We do not place restrictions on the use of personal information by our parent company, subsidiaries, or affiliates but require that they will treat it at least as protectively as they treat information they obtain from their other users. They also will comply with applicable laws governing the transmission of promotional communications, and must give you an opportunity in any such email that they send to choose not to receive such promotional e-mail messages in the future.
