Erin Thompson
BCTS & Speech-Language Pathologist
Why did you choose your profession?
I chose my profession as a speech-language pathologist because of the connection I get to create with my students and families. I love seeing my students grow and progress in all areas of communication.
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
I love knowing that I am providing services to children in need as a speech-language pathologist who delivers speech and language services via telepractice in a public school system. Telepractice allows all students to receive the services they need and deserve. It’s exciting getting to see my students’ faces every day and watch them learn.
How has your IBCCES training/credential helped you in your career?
My training through IBCCES to receive my Board Certified Telepractice Specialist credentialing has helped me feel more confident and knowledgeable within my field and position. The field of speech-language pathology is so vast, so it’s nice being able to hone into a specific “niche.”
How do you use/implement what you learned in the IBCCES certification training?
When completing the BCTS certification training, I felt like it reviewed a wide variety of topics related to telepractice. It not only covered different treatment models and approaches, but also specific technology concepts that I wasn’t aware of beforehand. |
