Since becoming a Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ (CAC) in 2019, DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Mesa has been part of the initiative that helped the city of Mesa become the first Autism Certified City that year, as designated by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The CAC certification requires guest-facing staff to complete training and certification program in order to better understand and welcome autistic and sensory-sensitive guests and their families.
Through an initiative started by Visit Visalia, in partnership with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), Visalia is now the first city to achieve the Certified Autism Destinationâ„¢ designation. This designation is granted by IBCCES to communities where multiple attractions, lodging, and entertainment options have completed a training and certification process to ensure autistic or sensory-sensitive visitors have a positive experience. Becoming a CAD will help Visit Visalia in its mission to encourage travelers to choose Visalia as a destination and differentiate it from other options in the area.
Gilbert Parks and Recreation recently earned the Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ (CAC) designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) for undergoing training and implementing new programs and resources that better serve autistic or sensory-sensitive individuals.
During the certification process, IBCCES conducted an onsite review of key parks and community centers in Gilbert to help provide recommendations on how the town could better understand and accommodate visitors’ needs.

The first phase of this initiative means all Dubai attractions, hospitality and entertainment organizations will have access to specialized autism-specific training designed to enhance staff knowledge, understanding and strategies for communication, guest experience and safety to better serve and accommodate people of determination.Â
The JH Adams Inn, Trademark Collection by Wyndham joins the growing list of autism-certified locations in High Point by earning the Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ (CAC) designation. The CAC is awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations that have met requirements and completed a staff training program to better understand and assist autistic and sensory- sensitive visitors. In addition to training, IBCCES also conducted an onsite review to provide additional recommendations to better serve and accommodate guests.
The Autism Foundation of Oklahoma (AFO) has earned the Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ (CAC) designation, which is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The CAC credential requires staff to complete an autism-specific training and certification program through IBCCES to ensure the team’s ability to meet the ever-changing needs of autistic individuals.
Comcast announced that The Universal Sphere, located in the Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia, has further expanded its accessibility offerings with the launch of a sensory-friendly experience. The sensory-friendly version will incorporate technical updates to create a more welcoming experience for autistic or sensory-sensitive people, and those with social, learning, or cognitive needs. Guests who request a sensory-friendly experience can expect modifications to sound levels, reduced movements, and lighting adjustments to reduce blue light and eliminate flashing.
The Visalia Fox Theatre is now a Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ (CAC), a designation awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), and joins a growing movement initiated by Visit Visalia to attract more travelers to the destination. To meet CAC requirements, Theatre staff and volunteers completed training and certification to better assist and welcome autistic or sensory-sensitive visitors and their families.
Since becoming a Certified Autism Center™ in 2020, Carolina Therapy Connection Greenville (CTC) has built upon the certification principles by collaborating with other resources to create a stronger community. Its therapists are now going into ABA clinics to provide occupational and physical therapy services. As part of CTC’s ongoing commitment, team members recently completed additional training through IBCCES to meet renewal requirements and ensure staff have up-to-date knowledge and resources to enhance their skill sets.
