The Visalia Fox Theatre is now a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a designation awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), and joins a growing movement initiated by Visit Visalia to attract more travelers to the destination. To meet CAC requirements, Theatre staff and volunteers completed training and certification to better assist and welcome autistic or sensory-sensitive visitors and their families.

Carolina Therapy Connection Greenville Continues Commitment to Serving the Autism Community with Autism Certification Renewal

Since becoming a Certified Autism Center™ in 2020, Carolina Therapy Connection Greenville (CTC) has built upon the certification principles by collaborating with other resources to create a stronger community. Its therapists are now going into ABA clinics to provide occupational and physical therapy services.  As part of CTC’s ongoing commitment, team members recently completed additional training through IBCCES to meet renewal requirements and ensure staff have up-to-date knowledge and resources to enhance their skill sets.

High Point Museum Completes Autism Certification, Joins Visit High Point Initiative

High Point Museum is now a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a credential awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations that complete training and certification to better understand and welcome autistic or sensory-sensitive guests and their families. In addition to staff training, IBCCES also conducted an onsite review to provide additional recommendations on how to better welcome and accommodate visitors, including sensory guides to help visitors understand the impact on the five senses for each exhibit area.

PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder, is often mentioned in movies and television shows, but it’s more than just a plot device. It’s an incredibly challenging illness linked to uncontrollable anxiety, horrid nightmares, and destructive thoughts.

Some of the unfortunate souls who have this disorder also experience short-term memory loss and deal with additional psychological issues.

It’s estimated that seven to eight of 100 adults in America deal with PTSD. That’s a hard-hitting number. You can be a helpful voice for those suffering from PTSD if you know what to do.
