Educators and healthcare professionals don’t always receive in-depth training specific to autism and other cognitive disorders throughout their education, which is why autism certification can be so helpful for many professionals.
A Certified Autism Specialist or Autism Certificate credential is meant to help educators and healthcare professionals be better prepared to serve individuals on the autism spectrum in a variety of ways, in turn making them a resource for the individual, families, and co-workers alike.
Kings Island becomes the latest member of the Cedar Fair Parks family to earn the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, which is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The CAC designation demonstrates Kings Island’s dedication to providing a welcoming environment for all guests, including those with autism and other sensory disorders. The staff completed autism-specific training and certification to learn how to better communicate and assist guests with sensory needs and their family members, as well as safety concerns and protocols.
Hyland Hills Water World has earned the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The certification demonstrates the park’s commitment to providing a welcoming environment for guests with autism and other sensory sensitivities.
Greensburg Police Department earned the Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ (CAC) designation to enhance their ability to assist the community as a whole and better understand those with autism or other sensory needs. Carolina Therapy Connection is now the first Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ (CAC) in Greenville North Carolina. The CAC designation is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and requires staff to complete autism-specific training and professional certification.
During my travels to many autism conferences I have observed many sad cases of people with autism who have successfully completed high school or college but have been unable to make the transition into the world of work. Some have become perpetual students because they thrive on the intellectual stimulation of college. For many able people with autism college years were their happiest (Szatmari et al., 1989).
