A Certified Autism Specialist or Autism Certificate credential is meant to help educators and healthcare professionals be better prepared to serve individuals on the autism spectrum in a variety of ways, in turn making them a resource for the individual, families, and co-workers alike.

Kings Island becomes the latest member of the Cedar Fair Parks family to earn the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, which is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The CAC designation demonstrates Kings Island’s dedication to providing a welcoming environment for all guests, including those with autism and other sensory disorders. The staff completed autism-specific training and certification to learn how to better communicate and assist guests with sensory needs and their family members, as well as safety concerns and protocols.

Now that many therapy clients have been forced to transition to telehealth (or teletherapy/telepractice) many clients are finding they want to keep doing telehealth in tandem with in-person services due to how it makes their lives so much easier. There are a lot of benefits for therapists as well.

During my travels to many autism conferences I have observed many sad cases of people with autism who have successfully completed high school or college but have been unable to make the transition into the world of work. Some have become perpetual students because they thrive on the intellectual stimulation of college. For many able people with autism college years were their happiest (Szatmari et al., 1989).
